Week 4 Reflective Blog Post
In the recent media classes we have been going even deeper into mis-en-scene as we started going more in-depth as we started looking as to what different kind of sounds and musics played and what they would mean to the audience. We wanted music that would fit the narrative of our concept so we are primarily looking for rap-style music to make it fit in with the urban setting.
We also started editing our Media Preliminary Task, which was our first taste of editing together as a class and learning how to edit from scratch and selecting the best shot for scene and how to catch continuity errors within the text.
We also started going more in-depth with British Social Realism genres, as we looked at popular examples of british social realism movies, such as Kes, Fishtank and Let him have it, so that we could look for inspiration from these texts when it comes to our own british social realism movie, which we havent started working on yet.
During the half term we were asked to choose a famous British Social Realism movie and pick out 5 major themes from the text and elaborate on what kind of effect they have on the audience and what they portray about the society that surrounds us. It took us some time to decide what we did and didn't want and was especially difficult when we wanted different themes and to leave different themes out but we had to come to an eventual decision on what we want.
